Sneak preview of our new desktop app.

We’ve only just got our iPhone app out the door, but behind the scenes the Mixlr team is already working on our next step forward.

Soon, we will release a significant upgrade of our desktop app. To whet your appetite, here’s a sneak preview of what’s in store.

Simpler, more stream-lined interface.

Our desktop app is already regarded as the easiest, most reliable way to broadcast live audio. But we always want to improve our service to our broadcasters, and we’ve identified many areas of the app we can refine to create an even easier-to-use, more intuitive and reliable experience.

So we’ve completely redesigned the app. We’ve simplified the layout, pruned unnecessary and obsolete controls, and added useful new features like a minified broadcasting view, and real-time updates of your chat, crowd and heart counts.

Change category during a broadcast

We understand. Sometimes your ambient, downtempo DJ set goes dubstep thirty minutes in. It’s tough to get the categories right, so we’ve made it possible to change the category you’re in mid-broadcast as many times as you like.

Improved audio support and bug fixes

If you’ve experienced a problem using our app with certain multi-channel audio interfaces, you’ll want to know that in this release we’ve completely re-written our underlying audio engine, and fixed a number of annoying technical limitations. This release is for you. To give it a test drive, email us.

We’ll be updating this post with more information as we release alpha versions of the app. Stay tuned, or drop us a line and we’ll add you to our beta tester mailing list.
