Sŵn Radio is a new station launched this week as part of Wales’ biggest musical gathering – Sŵn Festival.
Sŵn Festival is an annual music festival which takes place in Cardiff, and is curated by BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens and John Rostron from the Welsh Music Foundation. The festival is held at a host of venues across the city and includes some of the latest and greatest musical talent around, as well as incorporating art and film into the 4 day event. The festival is growing from strength to strength and this year was nominated for ‘Best small festival’ at the NME awards.
Now in it’s 7th year, the Sŵn Festival wanted to bring this musical gathering to an even bigger audience, allowing them to discover and engage with the festival… and that’s how Sŵn Radio was born. Listeners from around the globe can tune in via Mixlr, hear the great musical content and interact with the station.
Sŵn Radio will be live all this week and is being brought to you live from an Urban Outfitters store in The Hays. The shows will consist of live performances, gigs, interviews, guest presenters and will echo the festival’s dedication of showcasing the best in emerging talent and new music.
The station has a jam-packed schedule featuring stars such as Charlotte Church and Gruff Rhys and will be running 24 hours a day finishing at midnight on Sunday. The full radio show schedule can be found on their website.
Tune into Sŵn Radio here.
