In this article we’re going to show you how to broadcast live on Mixlr using our Desktop Application.
Step 1 – Install the Mixlr desktop application
Download our broadcasting app here, we recommend using the Beta app.
Step 2 – Log in to the app
You can login to the desktop app using Facebook or if you signed up with an email address, enter your username and password.
Step 3 – Choose your audio source
Go to the Audio Source tab:
Select the audio source you wish to use from the drop down menu:
Check the VU meter to ensure the audio is being received:
Step 4 – Categorise your broadcast
Go to the My Broadcast tab:
Here you can give your broadcast a title and select which category best suits your broadcast.
TIP – Selecting the best suited category will help attract the right listeners to your broadcast
Step 5 – Promote your broadcast
If you want to tell everyone that you’re live, then make sure the social button is switched on when you start your broadcast:
This means everyone who follows you will receive a notification that you’re on air, it also means you’ll appear on Mixlr’s category page.
You can also promote your broadcasts to your social networks via our share tab:
From here you can post directly to your Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as your Facebook page.
Note – the social button does not need to be switched on for the share tab to be enabled, you can post via the share tab at any time throughout your broadcast.
Step 6 – Go Live!
Once you’ve setup your broadcast, simply click the Start Broadcast button on the My Broadcast tab and you’re LIVE on air!
Next to the broadcast tab you can choose to record your broadcast should you wish. You can change your mind at any time during the broadcast if you decide to record or stop recording. Saved broadcasts will appear in your showreel.
Step 7 – Interact
Once you’re live, listeners will go to your Mixlr page to hear your broadcast. From here you can see who’s listening and interact with the crowd:
