What is Mixlr Studio?
We’re thrilled to introduce Mixlr Studio, the most powerful application we’ve ever built. It’s a full broadcast workstation for macOS and Windows that brings live audio streaming, offline recording, and editing together in one place, so you can go from first take to finished, published audio without ever leaving the app. It’s available now.
Whether you’re calling live sports, running a radio show, producing a podcast, or hosting a conference, Mixlr Studio can handle it, from a single microphone to a full multi-input production.
Live audio streaming, built for reliability
Live broadcasting is at the heart of Mixlr, and Mixlr Studio is the best way we’ve ever built to do it. Hit Go Live and you’re on air in seconds, streaming straight to your Mixlr channel using professional, industry-standard codecs, with quality settings to suit your bandwidth. The result is clean, dependable sound whether you’re on fibre at home or on a mobile hotspot in the press box.
A live waveform gives you real-time visual feedback across your entire session, with markers showing exactly when you went live, when recording started, and when your broadcast ended. Listener counts, chat messages, and hearts all live directly inside the app, alongside global Stop All controls for fast, confident decisions when it matters.
Underneath it all is a custom-built audio graph engine, the same signal-routing architecture professional digital audio workstations rely on. That means flexible routing, a clean signal path from every input to your stream, and the headroom to run whatever setup you throw at it, from one mic to a full multi-input production.

Record without going live
Until now, recording on Mixlr meant being on air. Mixlr Studio changes that: hit Record and capture your full mix, every mic, playlist and FX pad included, as uncompressed WAV, with no stream running and no audience listening. It’s ideal for podcasts, interviews, rehearsals, and pre-recorded segments, and for getting a take right before anyone hears it.
Recording and streaming are now fully independent, so you can also start or stop a recording mid-broadcast and your stream never skips a beat.
When you’re done, publish on your own terms. Save straight to your hosted recordings on Mixlr, or distribute via RSS to wherever your audience already listens.
Edit without leaving the app
When you stop a recording, Mixlr Studio takes you straight into its built-in editor. No exporting, no bouncing to a separate tool. Review the waveform, listen back, and make precise edits on the spot:
- Select and delete sections, or silence them in place
- Fade in and fade out
- Normalize levels
- Undo and redo, with zoom to get in close
- Stereo split view to check left and right independently
Save your edits as a new recording and the original stays untouched. You can also import audio recorded elsewhere and edit it right here. When it’s ready, upload straight to your hosted recordings on Mixlr without leaving the editor. Your full recordings library is always one click away in the built-in tab view.

Unlimited inputs, serious routing power
Mixlr Studio scales with your production. Start with a single microphone, then add as many audio devices, playlists and FX boards as your show demands. There are no fixed slots and no routing rules to work around: every input gets its own fader, and every input feeds the mix. Plug in new hardware and Studio picks it up automatically in the background, even mid-broadcast.
Route audio from anywhere
Sometimes the audio you need isn’t coming from a microphone. App Capture lets you take the sound from any other app on your computer and bring it into your broadcast as its own input: a Zoom or Google Meet call, a browser, a media player. No virtual audio cable, no third-party routing software, no fiddling with system audio settings. Just pick the app and it appears on your mixer.

Sound effects and playlists at your fingertips
Fire jingles, stingers and sound effects the instant you need them from an FX board built right into the app. Twelve pads, each loaded with your own sound, so your show’s ident, the sting into an ad break and the bed under a segment are never more than one click away.
Playlists hold everything you’ve prepared in advance. Drop in MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC or OGG files, cue tracks with the mini playback controls, watch progress live, and pop any playlist out into its own window to see every track at a glance. All of it runs from the same mixer as your mics, so you never break your flow on air.

Built for stability when it matters most
Live broadcasting only works if you can trust your tools. Mixlr Studio shows you the health of every part of your connection, all the time: your local network, your link to Mixlr for listener counts, chat and hearts, and the live stream itself going out to Mixlr’s global streaming infrastructure. Each one is monitored separately, so you always know exactly what’s working and what isn’t.
They recover separately too. If any of them drops, Mixlr Studio reconnects it automatically, and a problem with one never takes the others down with it.
